Art Coaching - Terms of service.

ARTriculate provides personalized art coaching and college admissions consulting services based on the creative, academic, and extracurricular interests of your student. Working with an Art Coach is similar to working with a music or athletic coach and students most benefit from coaching when they are engaged and committed to the process and actively work, and communicate with their coach, between meetings.

Art Coach’s responsibilities are:

  • Provide personalized, 1:1 art coaching appropriate to the skills and aspirations of each student.

  • Evaluate student artwork for foundational skills, composition, and conceptual thinking.

  • Suggest art materials needed to support the student’s artistic growth.

  • Work with the student to strengthen their skills and encourage students to create artwork that reflects their personal voice.

  • Introduce students to art concepts and artists who will inspire the students to grow their personal voice.

  • Encourage students to participate in activities that will allow them to use their art to benefit and enrich these activities.

  • Encourage students to submit work to Scholastic Art & Writing contest (late fall/early winter).

  • Encourage students to attend National Portfolio Days (both in person and virtual) and/or any other portfolio review opportunities.

Student responsibilities are:

  • Come to class prepared to work and with the materials suggested by the coach.

  • Work between coaching sessions (as one would practice a musical instrument or athletic skills between sessions) and interact with coaches as needed to continue forward movement on their artwork.

  • Use the coach’s personal calendar link to schedule appointments.

  • Share information about summer program applications which may require artwork, this should include the number of completed pieces, their characteristics, and their due dates.

  • Share information about college applications which may require artwork, this should include the number of completed pieces, their characteristics and their due dates.

Art Coach and Student responsibilities are:

  • At least 60 days prior to application deadlines identify the number of portfolio ready pieces, based on the requirements for each school.

Art Coaches are not responsible for:

  • Procurement of any materials required for student artwork.

  • Submissions of any artwork to contests or for applications.

  • Assistance with any written work (essays, artwork descriptions, or the like) required for any applications (contests, summer programs, or college).

ARTriculate Does Not

  • Guarantee admission to, or satisfaction with, programs of a particular school.

  • Exert influence on admission officers or others related to the admissions process.

  • Take responsibility for submitting applications and supporting documents/work to colleges. It is the student’s responsibility to submit their work and to respond appropriately to the requirements and deadlines.

It is the client’s responsibility to:

  • Be aware of your high school's deadlines and requirements and to use your school's system as they require so that your applications are complete. Most questions related to transcripts, recommendations, etc. should be directed to your high school counselor.

  • Schedule college tours, college visits or interviews.

  • Write essays, create supporting artwork or audition materials, complete application forms, FAFSA, CSS, or scholarship forms – these are all the responsibility of the student and their family. The student agrees that all work products submitted to ARTriculate and to colleges will be their own original work product and not the work product of any other person, or AI, and that such work will not violate the rights of any third party.

  • Submit applications and creative supplements according to the college’s deadlines.
