Applying to Art School
Your student is applying to BFA programs, art schools, or conservatories, they need a strong body of work.

On this path portfolio requirements are defined by the school. Their art carries real weight in how decisions are made.

We help families identify the right programs, and students build a focused body of work that meets each school’s expectations.

Applying to a University

Many schools encourage submitting creative to support applications for programs in business, liberal arts, STEM, and other creative fields.

We help students shape and present their ideas clearly and thoughtfully so their application reflects more than grades and activities.

Your student’s creativity and their application should work together.

Have questions? How we work with your family.

  • ARTriculate takes a holistic approach to working with students as they apply to college. Our students are interested in visual arts, design, architecture, animation, fashion, game arts, performing arts, music, film, dance, and often the intersection between the arts and STEM, humanities, or business. You can learn more about Art Coaching here.

  • We work with students throughout high school advising them on coursework, contests to enter, summer activities, internships, extracurricular activities, and summer pre-college opportunities to support their growth and develop comprehensive college applications.

Art coaching is ongoing, one-on-one work. Students meet regularly with a coach, bring in their work, and receive critique. They build skills, develop new pieces, and refine their creative voice while the work is shaped for portfolio and supplemental requirements.

Over time, the work and the application come together in a way that reflects the student clearly.

  • While many students ARTriculate works with apply to BFA programs, other students submit creative supplements to gain admissions to liberal arts colleges and universities to study in other academic areas. Regardless of your intended schools we help you craft applications that ensure admissions learns of your creative talents during the application process.

We introduce students to both art schools and traditional liberal arts colleges/universities so you can determine the path that best furthers your growth and education in a way that compliments your innovative thinking styles. Often students apply to a mix of programs and schools deciding once they are accepted which is best for them.

    We guide you to:

    • participate in activities which inspire you,

    • create art which shows your personal voice and technical skills,

    • develop a balanced college list with respect to academic, social/cultural and financial fit,

    • select works for supplemental materials (often art portfolios or audition materials), and

    • write compelling scholarship-receiving essays.

Most importantly, we guide the application timeline to reduce the inevitable stress families face all while encouraging students to take ownership process. Although the college process is infamously difficult and overwhelming with many steps and requirements, it is ARTriculate's goal to help students and their families take control of this potentially chaotic experience and receive acceptances to programs that are good academic, cultural, and financial fits. Here are some programs our students have been accepted to.
