Expert guidance to shape a stronger college portfolio

As your student’s portfolio takes shape, their art coach may recommend a review with Abigail, our Portfolio Review Specialist, to take a closer look at the work being considered for college applications.

Abigail doesn’t design the portfolio—she provides expert critique on individual pieces, helping identify what’s working, what’s missing, and what needs refinement. Her feedback gives the art coach clear direction on how to help your student move their work closer to college-ready. This is a key part of the ARTriculate process—designed to ensure your student is on track and presenting their strongest work.

Before this session, Abigail will:

• Review both the working and final versions of your student’s slide deck

• Evaluate technical strength, cohesion, and college readiness

• Prepare targeted feedback for your student and their coach

What you’re scheduling now:
A 30-minute live feedback session between Abigail and your student.
She will walk through her critique, highlight strengths, and recommend clear next steps—especially helpful as we begin tailoring portfolios for specific colleges. The student’s coach will also receive actionable recommendations to support gap analysis and help move the portfolio from where it is now to college-ready.

Why Abigail?
At RISD, Abigail worked at the Arts and Language Center, helping students refine their portfolios through layout design, visual hierarchy, and clear project descriptions. Now, she brings that same expertise to ARTriculate—offering targeted, practical feedback to help your student present their work with purpose and confidence.

Last year, Abigail worked closely with several ARTriculate seniors as they finalized their portfolios. Many students choose to meet with a review specialist like Abigail once their final pieces are selected—when it’s time to resize images, refine descriptions, and shape the overall story. Her students from last cycle were accepted to top programs including NYU Tisch, RISD, RIT, SCAD, Stamps (UMichigan), Syracuse, and Sam Fox (WashU).
