Pace University

We began working with “S” at the end of 10th grade as she wasn’t sure if she wanted to study acting or engineering. She was a strong student in high school and visited about a dozen schools varying from large “public ivies” to small liberal arts college as while she was leaning towards acting, her very supportive parents wanted her to be sure that she considered all her options. Since she started working with us early enough in high school we could really take the time to determine what type of degree she wanted and the best path to achieving that dream. As her parents were completely unfamiliar with the college process and the requirements for applying to BFA programs in the dramatic arts, we guided her through preparing for auditions, the auditions themselves, and the college application process from beginning to end.

She had excellent grades and took her ACT test seriously scoring well enough to be a strong candidate regardless of which direction she chose. After much deliberation she decided that she wanted to pursue a BFA in acting. Knowing that this would be a very competitive route, she applied to programs in both California and New York. We worked with her to select her monologues for both her pre-screens and auditions, coached her on her interviews, assembled her binder including her resume and head shots, and guided her through the multiple steps of applying to an acting conservatory.

She was accepted at almost every program she applied to and matriculated to the BFA program at Pace University in NYC, a program that has an acceptance rate close to 2%. She was tailor made for this program and hasn’t regretted a moment of her decision to pursue her BFA in acting.

I caught up with her recently to hear how she liked Pace, she loves it more than when she applied. You can read her update here.

Coming from a large public high school my counselors didn’t have the experience to guide me as I applied to BFA Theatre programs. Your help was immeasurable, there is no way I could have been accepted to so many programs, and the program I chose is absolutely perfect!
