“B” attended one of our workshop to prepare for National Portfolio Day and then began working with us to narrow his college list and select items for his portfolio. In the process of working with him we suggested he enter the National Geographic Student Expeditions contest, where he was selected as one of the 30 semi-finalists from over 5,000 submissions. Below is his submission for the Parsons Challenge which contributed to his successful applications to Parsons, SVA and Pratt as well as other competitive colleges of art and design.
B chose to create a work of art based on his experiences on several service trips to Africa. His main artistic focus is photography, but showing his painting abilities illustrated the depth and breadth of his artistic capabilities.
