USC School of Cinematic Arts

We started working together at the beginning of her Junior year. She knew she wanted to study film in colleges and had just returned from visiting USC, UCLA, Chapman (Dodge), UC Irvine and CalArts and knew that she would need guidance on her applications and a more complete list of schools to consider. After discussing what aspects she liked about these schools we made further recommendations for her to research and by the end of her Junior year she had developed a well rounded list of schools to which she wanted to apply.

The application to film school is arduous as in addition to completing the Common Application, film students must also respond to a multitude of additional prompts ranging from illustrating your ability to collaborate to writing a short story you’d want to film. In all she wrote more than 15 essays and responded to about 10 additional short prompts, all aimed at showing film schools her story and how she would contribute to the overall composition of their class. She also submitted different artistic samples and reels to each school. Needless to say, the application process required a lot of fortitude and discipline to organize and submit to 10 schools but her efforts definitely paid off.

She was accepted to seven schools with significant merit aid as well. She selected to attend USC School of Cinematic Arts after visiting and fully considering all her acceptances. We can’t wait to see the amazing work she will produce.
